RIP Crusader Sword

Old Friends at Cabin Creek has sad news today.

29 year old stallion Crusader Sword(Damascus) passed away last night, May 10, from old age. He raced for Paul Mellon’s Rokeby Stable and was trained by Mack Miller. He was a multiple grade 1 winner. He was at stud for many years and when pensioned came to Cabin Creek. He had 5 years of happy retirement as an ambassador for thoroughbred aftercare. His nickname was Grandpa. He ruled the paddocks at the top of the hill and was loved by everyone. He was gentle with children. He danced for his dinner every night, snorting and tap dancing around his paddock. He’s racing in green pastures now with his old friends Rio and Key Contender.
