The End of Summer...
aka The party that’s still going!
What a beautiful summer it was. Full of horses, family, friends and visitors. Thousands of folks came to visit the boys. People understand our mission and have joined us in the care of our beloved racehorses and to help spread the word.
It felt a little lonely at times, without Thunder, Behr, Crusader, Key and Rio. I do feel that their presence here at the farm is what makes it very special here, peaceful and healing. We continue to feel their love long after they are gone. Some things can only be taught by horses.
One of my favorite memories of the summer was this couple, maybe both were 21 years old.
The guy was introducing his girl to horses and the track. I could tell they were madly in love. They took 20 selfies before we even started the tour. First stop was Be Bullish. It was his second day of freedom in his own paddock. I told his story as he stood there listening. He grasped the whole tour/treat concept immediately. The girl couldn’t wait to give him a peppermint, as her sweet boyfriend took countless photos, Bull took the mint and crunched it. She threw her head back and laughed with sheer joy. It was breathtaking. I wish we could have one of those photos. They proceeded to take 30 selfies with Bull, who enjoyed every minute.
Old Friends at Cabin Creek is a beautiful thing, for horses and people. So come visit often and bring your friends. Also…Please pray for a mild winter!
Love,
JoAnn
