Feb. 14, 1999, by Golden Gear, out of Wacky Miss, by Miswaki Moonshadow Gold was a fabulous NY bred gelding. Moonshadow raced 89 times, coming in the money an impressive 51 times (16-23-12). He raced from 2001-2009. Moonshadow raced primarily in claiming and allowance races, mainly at Finger Lakes, Penn National, and Philadelphia Park. He raced in one stakes race at the beginning of his career. This was the Aspirant Stakes at Finger Lakes, which he placed 4th in. In all, Moonshadow earned $338,777. He is bred by Green Polka Farms and was trained by Jose Martinez (at the time of his last race). After his racing days, Moonshadow was sent to Camelot sales barn in NJ to be sent most likely to slaughter. His amazing looks and charm attracted the attention of a wonderful woman who saved his life. She bought him for $250 and saved him from being sent to Canada; a very happy ending to a story that almost ended in certain tragedy. He is Cabin Creek’s first retiree, and arrived on 11/30/09. He also served as a mentor to our current racer that was born on the farm, Mr. Cowboy. They were very close and Moonshadow “cried” the day that Mr. Cowboy was shipped to Belmont to train to be the great racehorse he is today.
