Bold Illusion, or Bo, is a charismatic bay son of Utopia, foaled out of the Odyle mare Wisp of Magic in New York on April 15, 2012. Bred by Charles Furey, Jr. and campaigned by Daniel Stone, Bold Illusion made each of his 28 lifetime outings for conditioner Richard “Kerry” Metivier, beginning In December 2015. He graduated at 11th asking in a $40,000 maiden claiming tilt in August 2016 at Saratoga Race Course, notching a 53-1 upset in the six-furlong sprint for New York-bred sophomores.
Bo went on to win two more races when switched to the turf for the second half of his 5-year-old campaign and as a 6-year-old in his final season on the track. He captured a one-mile claimer on good Meadowlands turf in October 2017, and visited the winner’s circle again when scoring in a one-mile and 70-yard event in June 2018 at Suffolk
Downs. After a career that saw him earn over $82,000 through a 28-3-0-1 record, he retired that October to another farm before finding his permanent home at Cabin Creek in April 2022. He is paired with Red Down South and has settled in beautifully to our herd.
