"Stanley"

Handy Stan was just that on the racetrack, hitting the board in each of his eight lifetime starts to earn nearly $100,000. The bay son of Stanislavsky, out of the Minardi mare Many Talents, was bred in New York by Merrylegs Farm North and foaled on May 22, 2010. He debuted in December 2013 for trainer Mark Shuman and owner Dare to Dream Stable, and finished third in his first two outings before dropping in for a claiming tag in February 2014 to be defeated a nose.

He was claimed out of that effort for $25,000 by trainer Tom Morley and owner Robert Murray, who sent him out to win with ease next out in a six-furlong maiden claimer at Aqueduct Racetrack, storming home a 7 1/4-length winner under Jose Ortiz. Stan passed his first test again winners in his next start to capture a second-level claiming event at the Big A, and won at the next condition two starts later. He exited that effort to complete his career with a game third-place effort in a first-level state-bred allowance in July 2014 at Saratoga Race Course.

Stan was retrained and had a second career until his permanent retirement to Cabin Creek in October 2022. Old Friends at Cabin Creek thanks Tom and Maggie Morley for helping to facilitate Stan’s second career and eventual retirement.
